Borrowing Procedures



Library Cards

Library cards are available, free of charge, to all taxpayers of School District No. 10 who are Town of Huntington residents. All residents fourteen years of age and older will be issued adult cards.


Direct Access Privileges

If you have an up-to-date library card with us, you may borrow non-restricted items from all other Suffolk County public libraries.


Reserves & Interlibrary loan

If any item in our collection is currently out on loan, you may reserve it free of charge. When the item is returned, we will contact you and hold it for you at the circulation desk for twenty-four hours. Also, if there is an item that we do not own, we will try to obtain it for you through our interlibrary loan network. Theses services are available online through our catalog you may contact us via telephone.


Special Services

The library has ramps, and sliding front doors to aid the handicapped. We will mail books, postage paid, to patrons confined to their homes. You must submit a doctor's certificate to qualify for our mailing services.


Overdue Fines

Children's books 2 cents per day
Adult books 5 cents per day
Compact Discs, Talking Books and Playaways 50 cents per day
Videos 50 cents per day
DVD's, Software and Video Games $1.00 per day
